my hubby had gallbladder removal surgery a few years back.
we had gone in thinking it was gonna be in and out.
due to complications from the anesthesia he had to stay for three (nightmarish) days. i was by his side constantly throughout those three days. he had a bit of discomfort for about a week and a half from the surgery itself but other than that he did fine. once he was home he was off work for 5 1/2 weeks and gradually started walking round the house then outside a bit and before you knew it he was back to normal activities.
so if i were you id go ahead and pack a "just in case" bag with some comforts of home, so your friend or spouse wont be running round after the surgery and admittance wondering what to throw into a suitcase

This isn't an answer (sorry) but I was just wondering how the doctors detected that you needed your gallbladder removed? What were the symptoms that you were experiencing? I think I might need to get mine checked out as well...my stomach is always in pain, feeling full constanly, having to urinate frequently etc. Do you have any of these symptoms?

i've got no longer had that, yet i had a quadruple pass surgical technique on my coronary heart. i felt better afterword than i had in years. considering you're 17, you have better odds of a useful operation than maximum persons.
