I certainlyt DIDNT vote for his dumb ***......
See, what happens is that, unfortunately, the majority of Americans are fools and sheep - just look at how many belong to the religious right...but I digress....
Prior to the last election, Bush used terrorism to get re-elected. He used the perceived threat of terroristic attacks on the US to gain momentum and to have himself re-elected. Of course, the mudslinging against Kerry assisted his position as well. Unfortunately, in this country, money rules politics, and those with more money typically become the victors. Seeing as this country is 70% Christian, mention of gay marriage got their votes.....
Basically, Repugnicans will say ANYTHING to each constituent party to get the vote (tells Christians about gay marriage, tell poor about lower taxes [for the rich only], tell the blacks about C. Rice and C Powell....)

Are you sure you are a Canadian? You sound like the whining liberals. Why? Your question says IF ALL Americans hate Bush, then why did you vote for him? That is not a fair question. Did you expect all Americans to answer this question or did you already know that all Americans did not vote for GW and that the loud liberal rabble are the ones portraying the nation as a majority of Bush haters. I disagree with you. This is NOT an honest question. Of all the answers you already have, I'm sure that there are answers that you wanted to hear and that most of the answers were expected. Are you one of those foreigners that is just trying to widen the gap between our 2 main political parties?

Like others have said 2000 was a questionable outcome.
In 2004, the Democrats did not provide a good alternative to Bush.
Unfortunately it has turned into who we dislike and distrust the least.
Too many voters do not do their research and just vote for their party down the line which is never a good idea.

It's the same thing for every president. Even though they win the election everyone uses their First Amendment right to the hilt and does nothing but criticize. There were critics for Clinton, Bush "Senior", Reagan, Carter etc all the way by to Washington. It is all part of what some people feel it means to be an American. All I have to say to the critics is if you don't like what the President is doing, get off your lazy a** and become the next one. That's another right anyone born a US citizen has: to be the President. But, 99.99999999% of all the critics are too stupid and useless to be anywhere near as effective as the person they're criticizing. They can NOT fathom the full complexities of the job to realise EVERYTHING that really goes on, if they could understand they wouldn't be so quick to criticize. They'd realise how much the job sucks. I know *I* wouldn't want it. I'll stay away from complex things like politics and stick to the simple things in life like physics.

Several factors come into play here:
1. It's been two years since the election so that's plenty of time for opinions to change.
2. Not all Americans hate Bush (though many do & those who do are rather vociferous).
3. Many Americans end up voting for who they see as the better of two evils (a terrible byproduct of the 2-party system we have here). The opposition in the last US Presidential Election was really not a very palatable choice for many.

Bush didn't win in 2004 as much as the Democrats lost.
They have a leftist agenda that doesn't appeal to the majority of Americans. It doesn't appeal to the moderates. As long as they play to that one extreme they will allienate everyone else.
Plus if Kerry is the strongest candidate, the party has other issues. The national parties need to get away from nominating the candidate who will generate the highest amount of donations and pick the best person to run the country.

Not all Americans hate Bush.
Most Americans like Bush. You are hearing from the loud, whiny types and a mainstream media that hates all Republicans.
The Silent Majority really likes Bush. That's why Republicans keep winning elections (remember Bill Clinton never got more than 50% of the vote and his opponents votes were split in those 3-way elections).
Pollsters always underestimate Republican turnout because Republicans don't give answers to pollsters from liberal media companies.
Media types will be shocked (again) when GOP retains Congress this November.
I voted for Bush because he lowered taxes which has kept the economy in great shape since the devastation of 9/11, he has appointed federal judges who respect the Constitution instead of creating new penumbras in the Constitution, he toppled 2 evil regimes in the Taliban and Saddam Hussein (the Silent Majority knows that Bill Clinton was afraid of doing anything about terrorism).

I know a lot of Christians voted for him because he is supposedly a christian himself. I thought that was a stupid move, you never really know any ones heart, so to vote for him solely on his beliefs was a stupid mistake. Other people voted for him just because he was a Republican, another dumb move, or because they didn't like the way Kerry looked.I think its just because people vote for shallow reasons, and then we end up gettin screwed in the end, and wonder why. Its not G.W.'s fault its the ones who voted him into office.

I don't hate him, I voted for him twice. Now that being said I don't agree with everything he does or says. Like border security and illegal immigration. He is totally dropping the ball on those issues.
And for those who do hate him, but voted for him, more than likely they couldn't stand Kerry !!! Kerry AND his wife was just too much to take in !! I don't think anyone wanted to see Kerry's wife in the White House.

We didn't. Some people made a mistake that they fixed after the second election. People change their political views everyday. All it takes is one hurricane to tear down your whole city and wait for the government to not pluck you out of the water. Next thing you know, the president's approval ratings plummet. What a coincidence!
