No real formula, you basically come up with one of your own. I start off with the #1 and look through all boxes to find a space to put one. ( I never put it unless I know for sure that's where it goes) I work my way up to 9. Then I don that a second time and I always find more answers because I've added some numbers my first time through. After that, I use process of elimination using the rows and the columns. Always use pencil.
I haven't found a regular Sudoku that I wasn't able to solve. Monster Sudoku, I'm totally lost.

No, just find a pattern that works for you when trying to determine the numbers. I work the 3 rows first, then the three columns, then each of the nine blocks. Then I go each individual row and column after that. Have fun and good luck.

Yes.
Fill in each square with the potential numbers that could work, until you get to the squares for which there is just one of those, and fill those squares in. Then erase the potential numbers that are nullified by the first solutions, until you find more squares with one possibility. Repeat as necessary until each square has one number in it.
