I think I've hears this, but I'm not sure it was about slaves. I think it is a story in mythology about a woman who cut Achillies tendon.

That is not true. If they cut their achilles heels, they wouldn't have been able to "work" in the fields.

not sure, but if you do this, they cant even walk, let alone run!
i have heard that they would hobble them. this is where they restrcit the feet preventing them from moving too quickly, like using shackles with spikes in them, or something, or smahing the bones in theri feet. ouch!!
