I just got my new macbook how much time should i leave the connector on for the first time and start using my battery

HI there...begin using your Macbook without the charger first so you will calibrate the battery to run more optimally. If you have already used the charger, just unplug and then wait for a popup warning to indicate your battery is low and needs the power... select OK and keep working until the Mac screen blacks out then connect your power cord to fully charge the Macbook for about 5-8 hours.

Call the dealer where you purchased it. If it's plugged in and is being charged while you use it,
you can use it right away.
