perhaps for the same reason some women prefer to wear make up, they think it makes them look better!

Because stroking the beard releases the hormone barbasone, which has been shown to increase intelligence.
(Anybody else a fan of Dan Coffey, a.k.a. Doctor Science? That's from one of his old shows. Hilarious guy...)
Me, I have a beard to prevent heart attacks. If I had been shaving every day for the past ten years and grew out a beard now, I'd have a heart attack from seeing how much white is in it.

If I didn't I'd be spending a fortune just buying the shaving cream. Besides my wife says I'm ugly without a beard and that I have no chin.

I hate shaving, but I do it every day till the winter then I let it grow till the Spring cause it's cold all winter & it keep my face warm.

In my case its because it grows so damn fast. Without a beard, I have to shave twice a day
Trimming is way quicker.
