When I was about 20 I got pulled over for speeding. The officer asked me why I was driving so fast. I told him the truth. I said, "This good looking blond I know from Mississippi just got into town and called me to come see her and I didn't realize how fast I was going." He gave me two warnings; One: to slow down, two: to be careful of good looking blonds, they would get me in trouble. I married a brunet.

Yes, and I couldn't believe that it worked. I told him I was over the speed limit because I was almost peeing myself so I had to get back home fast to run to the bathroom. He laughed so much that he let me go :-)

I have gotten off a few times by just being honest as you have said. I always show an officer respect and you get the same in return.
I remember going through Biringham (I live in Louisiana). I was doing 70 in a 55 and when I came to the 65 junction there was a police car. He pulled me over and I sat in the passenger seat of his vehicle while he asked me a bunch of questions. I was on my way to visit my brother up at Lake Smith. He asked me about my speedometer and I told him it works fine in that I didn't have an excuse. I just wasn't paying attention. He gave me a warning and told me to slow down since the next officer might not be so nice. Cool dude!

About 10 years ago, after my 2nd divorce, all my friends at work gave me a "divorce party!" We all went to the bar and EVERYBODY bought me drinks! Needless to say, I was feeling no pain when we left. A friend was driving me home and we got pulled over on the interstate for speeding. They let us go. About 3 miles down the road we were pulled over again by a different cop. I kept trying to get out of the car and talk to him. I was in a really good mood. He kept telling me to get back in the car and I kept trying to get out and talk to him!! Finally he told my friend to take me home so I could sleep it off! She was drunk too, but not nearly as bad as I was! I only lived about another mile so we were lucky.

Here's the ultimate warning:

My friend and I were drinking at this bar and got pretty drunk. My friend was driving me home and we got pulled over. The cop asked my friend how much he had to drink. He said "Oh, two beers." Then the cop asked "How big were those beers?" My friend motioned with his hands that we had two pitchers. The cop then said "Oh, you mean two pitchers of beer!" My friend said "Yeah, two beers!" That's when the cop said "Alright smart@$$, get the hell back home and if I see you again tonight you're going to jail!"

It's always better to tell the truth. And if you're a woman, I hate to say it, but crying doesn't do any good. There was one time when I almost got out of the ticket, but I started crying. I couldn't help it.
