Mainly because of America's foreign policy.
This would include such things as ignoring UN resolutions that Israel breaks while supporting other resolutions which allow US intervention where it suits the US.
The injustices done to the Palestinian people. Supplying arms to Israel to murder Palestinian people.
The invasion of Iraq on the false premise of WMD when the real reason was about securing oil supplies.
Fiddling around in various Islamic countries instead of letting them get on with their lives.
It's not America or Americans they don't like, it is the Bush regime and it's foreign policy. Previous presidents such as Carter tried to help with the Palestine crisis and relations were 100 times better. Don't forget it wasn't so long ago the US was helping the Mujhadeen in Afghanistan against the Russians. The Mujahadeen were the forerunners of the Taliban so it can't be an insolvable religious thing, simply an idiot in the White House.

You just did generalize!!
America backs the Zionists in Palestine and helps them prevent the Palestinians from having any fair deal. If they (the Zionists) climbed off their arrogance and worked out a compromise, the problem would disappear just as the USSR has disappeared.
That said, there is karma. Islam and Christendom have been in conflict for 1300 years because both are dogmatic religions.
Also, America is the imperialist power that wants (and usually gets) its way everywhere. Islam is the ideology that appeals to the dispossessed ~ now that Communism appeals to almost no-one.
the further away from America one gets, culturally speaking, the more it is disliked. Ask people in Greece, or Mexico, for example, not just in the Islamic world.

hi. first i would like to point out I'm not a Muslim. But i feel it is a wonderful religion. it is the people who are tarnishing it's name. Islam NOW, are trying to separate themselves from the world. they way it looks, they want to have a community where there are only Muslims. WHY ?? i don;t understand. Why do they call themselves "Islamic nation". why dun we hear a "christian nation", Hindu nation or even a Buddhist nation.
This is why they hate America. probably America wants to prevent this form happening. Can you imagine a world when THOSE fanatics are in power. We will be divided. Islamic ppl and Non -Islamic.
so this is my opinion.

They do like America. In fact their love for America is so fantastic, a group of Islamics have interpreted the Koran to mean--they must kill Americans until the survivors accept the Koran.

It's not the Americans they hate. There's the war between them. Rule number one about wars in general is that the two sides at war hate each other or else there wouldn't be wars in the first place. Then again the leaders of all nations do stuff that the public doesn't approve of. It's complicated I guess.

Can you blame them? I don't want Bush and his warmongers telling me what to do either. In Vanity Fair he's listed as the most hated president in American history. It's Bush that they "don't like", but America by association.
