jamminjay and bethanysm... your disbelief of my age is understandable because many kids try to pull this off...however, I assure you that you are wrong.

Well, one I know very, very well because I grew up in Gettysburg. In that battle, the South and North met there quite accidentally as the South had ventured North to buy shoes for their troops but were not expecting the North to be there. The battle lasted for three days and was the turning point for the war. One civilian, Jenny Wade, was killed while baking bread and a bullet came through the door and she was shot in the back.

Another battle of the Civil War would be the Battle of Antietam. This was the first major battle of the war to take place on northern soil. It was the bloodiest single day of battle in the American history. It was after this battle (considered a strategic victory for the North) that Lincoln was emboldened enough to announce his Emancipation Proclamation.

In 1861, one of the major Civil War Battles was Bull Run. General McDowell led his troops to Manasses Junction where the Confederates were. They met face to face and then attacked the Union.

Another one was at 1864, the 40 Days at Wilderness. General Banks led the Union up the Red River, and were attacked by the Confiderates. They retreated. The Red River dropped as Banks withdrew.

It's hard in my own words. So I did the abridged version.

If I remember correctly The first war which I believe it was Gettysburg.. maybe not but I remember the south thinking it was going to be a fast war over in a few weeks. Family's had near by picnics to watch the battle, and the north won. Now that I think of it it was not in Gettysburg. Oh well learned this in 7th grade. that was over 10 years ago.

I don't believe you. :) I think you're probably between the ages of 13-15 and you don't want to do your homework. Nice try.
