It all depends on your needs. Do you really need the new house, since your house is already big? If so go for the house, but if you don't need a new house then go for the computer.

Dont go for any media centre technology, its way off perfect, yet.
Everythings in one place right? tv, music, pictures....oh except the leads, for power, and to the monitor, and the tv, and to the many speakers, to the wireless sender box, and for the power for the wirelsess reciever boxes sat on top every other appliance, the wire to the network storage you'll need, as you'll soon fill the hd up, somewhere to put that, and you'll probably still want a printer right? where to put that, and its wireless reciever, and two power plugs, and your sitting room looks like a hoover repair shop, still.
Plus, microsoft media centre software, does everything readily available 3rd party software does, only worse, and crashes...a lot! I dont even use my media centre features, unless i want to look at pictures more slowly, or crash a video.
Amd have got some good chips comming up, and, having got dual core 6 months ago...ther's now dual core 2, 30% faster!
I'd say wait on the computer front, for six months, and dont be tempted by offers at xmas, ther'll be clearing out for the next gen chips and technology.

What do they have to do with each other? You can buy a computer for under $1000, can you buy a house for that?

At a guess you live in an area where there is a high concentration of psychiatric disorders. I would suggest therefore that you concentrate on moving to a more desirable area where there is easy access to a selection of therapy and counselling services. Following your move you can punch away at the keys on your Fisher Price keyboard.

Houses are a much better investment and they'll generally increase in price, the opposite can be said for a computer.

well.. it depends, if i liked the house i'm in, and i like the neighborhood and i'm comfortable there, and i don't wanna move, then i would buy a computer, but otherwise, i'd buy a house.

If you already have a house why not put the money in the bank?? It's easy to spend but not so easy to earn.
