Have you seen this movie? It's based on a true story, how much of it is really true and do you believe this really happened? Kinda freaky to me.

Wow, I have not seen or even thought about this movie in years. Your question makes me want to watch it again. Here is an interesting tidbit about the flick from the IMDB site:

"Real-life Carla Moran's teenage son described a particularly vicious attack in which Carla was thrown by the malevolent force and hit her head. He tried to intervene, but he was also thrown, breaking his arm. In the filming of the movie, the actor playing the son broke his arm in that scene, and the curtains tore from top to bottom without explanation."

Wow, that movie is so old. It is freaky. They said it was loosely based on fact, but it is hard to say, I never say the actual woman who encountered it. But then again, we don't usually believe what we can't see. Look at Amityville Horror. That is also, based on fact and has a lot of contradictions too.

I saw it many many moons ago. I know it's supposed to be based on a true story, but I don't know. My friend used to live 3 houses away from the famed Amyetville Horror *I know it's spelt wrong..dont hurt me :) * house on Long Island NY and she said weird stuff DID happen there every now and then, but I can't speak from experience

Yes, I have seen this movie and read the book. It is based on a true story, but where it goes arye for me is when they "freeze" the thing...I think that is where the BS comes in.

Its one of my favorite horror movies. When I saw it as a kid it really freaked me out. As for being true, I dont know, I have read conflicting opinions on that. As a haunted house and ghost movie buff, its kind of fun (and scary) to think that is was real.

that's an oldie, isn't it? i love the music whenever she's being attacked. i guess i could buy that something happened. you know hollywood likes to embellish to make things more interesting for the viewing audience.
