Yet he keeps his job!

Example of an email from him: The new STOCK envelopes @A5 should be delivered on Wednesday 132/9/06

What the hell does that mean!?!?

Lower management does not require anything other than the ability to do as one is told and shout a lot at those perceived to be beneath you, the ones, that actually do the work.
Intelligence and the ability to think and/or act in an individual way is not a part of the requirement for the position.
They are chosen because they are much better than you at doing as they are told, they do not rock the boat or confuse the issue by having an idea. Any idea.
You see, lower management is judged solely on the performance of others, like you.

It means that the new stock envelopes that are the type of A5 should be delived on 13th September 2006. Common you can interpret that any given time. The reason that you boss is the manager is coz he know the skill of how to get there

My guess is because he manages some "nut" cases. He meant the date to be 09/13/06 and the A5 is an envelope size and the fact that he sent this email to you indicates the envelopes are meant for you and you were probably 'hounding' him for them. Now, he sends you an email to confirm the status and you pick apart his typos and appear to have no idea what an A5 envelope is. What I'm wondering is why they hired you to be an envelope stuffer.

He simply didn't bother to read his email before he sent it.

Hitting 3 and 2 together is hardly the biggest sin known to man, and who ever needed the envelopes probably understood the message.

All being well the were correctly received on 13/9/06, of course to an american that would be nonsense as there are not 13 months!!!

I Had A Boss Like That. All He Would Do Is Walk Around, Look Important, And Expect Me To Do His Job. I Said Screw And Quit! I Actually Quit Yesterday To Tell Ya The Truth! I Can't Work With Idiots....My Advice Is Work Hard Enough To Take His Job.

Maybe he just wants you to be informed yet off guard. That way you can't say you didn't know the Stock envelop @45 was going to be delivered on some stardate in the future; or maybe the past. In any case, start using them today before you get in trouble since it's Friday. Do you even use envelopes?

My friend, we all have the intelligence of a demented peanut. I could tell you that you're boss is a fool but at the same time I make a **** load of mistakes on a daily basis and still do OK. As do we all. I have never been to a company that doesn't make a huge amount of errors on a daily basis and I'm sure I never will. Everyone is stupid so learn to live with it.

The reason he keeps his job, is because his boss only ever sees the good work that comes from his dept., not the dumbass stuff that he does. Of course, as everyone who works for your boss does the actual work (thus your dept produces good work), it does not look like your boss has the intelligence of a demented peanut, rather that he is a genius who reaches all targets and should be given a raise. BTW - it is also the reason that your boss' boss keeps his job - it is unfortunately the way of the world!

It's the Dilbert principle - Scott Adams (Get the book if you can!) reckons the old Peter Principle has been replaced with something more cynical - the most useless employees are moved into management as a damage limitation exercise!

Just wagering a guess as to why he is still on the payroll. He is either a "yes man" OR he is a relative to someone within the company.

People who get hired and stay hired for those reasons disgust me. It's too bad that that is the way the cookie crumbles.
