Germany was made to blame. But the English French and other allies were just as much to blame. The only reason the Germans gave up in the first place was because they were the first to run out of funds for the war. The only way the Allies beat them at that was American involvment. In the Versailles treaty the Germans were forced to recognise sole responsability for the war. Pay hefty fines. And give up parts of their land. The German army was disbanded and the Germans were forbidden to raise an army. They didn't get to raise an army untill 1933 when Hitler came to power.

Princip was definitely the catalyst but it was a situation waiting to happen. The Austrian government issued an ultimatum to Serbia demanding certain things to which it knew they could never agree. Backed by a promise from the Kaiser Wilhem II to support Austria-Hungary militarily it went ahead with it's attack even though the Germans were not keen. The German war machine had been gearing for war for a long time and Europe was at boiling point. Read Merriman's "History of Modern Europe" or Paul Kennedy's "The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers" for a more accurate why and wherefore.

Well, Franz Ferdinand was on a practice shooting in Serbia when he got shot accidentally. This was the excuse for the first world war to start but not the reason.
Who were blamed? Mostly the Austro-Hungarian empire and they paid a very hefty fine. First of all, the empire was broken up, then Hungary was ridiculously mutalated. In terms of payment, this country had to give up a significant area of its original territory, and the land went to other neighbouring countries as compensation for all the ballache they caused with the first world war. The decision on this was made in 1919 in France in Trianon, also known as the Trianon treaty. I hope it helps, although, I must admit this information may not be the full story as I'm sure there are other 'surprises' in here.

All far to complicated. Basically it was a war which should never have happened.

Go to this link and read. And it is not as simple as the assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand. There are many political, social and national interest reasons behind the process that led to the declaration of war, coupled with a lot of good 'Chaos Theory.' If you don't understand Chaos theory here is a quick example. A butterfly flaps its wings in Serbia leading to a massacre on the Somme, by a very convoluted, but interrelated, series of steps.

Oh dear - so many half truths in these answers so far. You need to do some pretty deep research to get a firmer grasp of the subject. Suffice to make this quotation "If there is to be another war in Europe it will be over some damn silly thing in the Balkans" - Fürst Otto Eduard Leopald Von Bismarck.

All the previous answers are right - but there is a missing ingredient:
The assasination of Francois-Ferdinand was just the ignition

Those countries just wanted to fight - and were waiting the right occasion:
On one side French - English - Italians (the Allies)
On the other side German empire - Ottoman empire (actual turkey) - Autria/Hungrian empire (the Axis)...
...
So i can t really tell about alll the one that are to be blamed

Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria started the first world war by being assasinated. Unsurprisingly he is dead!

It might have been some Serbian assasins who did it? In which case Austria declared war on Serbia, and they both had allies who joined their cause (often through treaties) and basically the whole world kicked off.

I would imagine the assasin is now dead, but how I don't know.

Gavrilo Princip(a Serb) shot and killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand(Austrian). Austria governed Serbia.
Because of various treaties which bound a lot of states together at the time. A war ensued because of this act of assassination.
Gavrilo Princip supposedly died in prison in 1918 of tuberculosis.

germany was blamed which essentially led to world war 2.

the french and british royally screwed them in the treaty that ended the war and completely destroyed the german economy, which led to hitlers rise and subsequently the second world war.
