The colors of sunset...

As the light fails, the world is 'shut out' and you cannot see the bad in the world. The spotlight only lights up the beautiful. The dark enables you to concentrate on only one thing - without being distracted by things around you.

As the sun sets, the different colours in the sky are incredible. They make you think (whether you are religious or not!) that there must be some form of 'greater being' to have been able to design something so beautiful.

Of course, at night, people cannot see you cry when things are too beautiful! Oh, and the setting sun is so much more flattering to us 'oldies' than the glare of the mid-day sun! (at dawn, you know all your flaws will shortly show up!)

During the latter part of the waking day the brain is more receptive to the aesthetic experience. Prior to this the brain is geared up to dealing with " survival " issues.
It has to do with brain chemistry, but I have insufficient knowledge to go into detail, although light levels have something to do with it. Maybe the simplest explanation is, day time for survival night time for escape. It is not much different from early humans sitting around a fire after a " busy " day.

Because it gets colder, and it makes you want to be closer to your friends.
I was at a Pet Shop Boys thing in May and it was FREEZING! The thing didn't start until 9 but the skyline was wonderful - cranes everywhere across the river. Once the lights were switched on and lit up the shipyard it made it even more beautiful. What a shame I never took my camera.

I think the nightfall is more mysterious and relaxing, and when you're relaxed its easier to to art, with that touch off myserious scenery added. x
