About 3.5 years (how long is a year in Star Wars time?)

Check out the Clone Wars (in two volumes) produced by Cartoon Network to see what happens during the time between EP2 and EP3.

Episode II ends with the start of the Clone Wars, and Episode III covers the end of the Clone Wars. The Clone Wars take about 3 years from start to end, matching the three years between the movies.

This timeline puts the Battle of Coruscant seen in ROTS exactly 36 months after the Battle of Geonosis seen in AOTC.
