Ok, so I got engaged, things went bad, and now I want to unload this engagement ring. I have all the paperwork for it. How do I get the most cash out of this gigantic mistake?

Your best bet is to go to a reputable jeweler and have them appraise the diamond. Then exchange it for another beautiful piece of jewelry. You can get the full value of the diamond if you exchange for another piece. If you want cash for it, you'll probably get 60% of the value of the ring.

Bring it to a jeweler that will value it for you. They will probably also have some good ideas of places in the area that would give you the most money for it.
How long have you had it? The jewelery store I worked at had a 90 day return policy, even if it was worn, so you could get all of your money back.

A diamond dealer will give you the most money. Jewelers will just rip you off.

Have the diamond placed into a new setting and wear it on your right finger, or appraise diamond for worth and sell it.
