Can someone help me I'm applying for a job and this question was on my application. I kind of know what it means but what to be sure!

It means how well you do whatever it is the question is about. For example, your proficiency in using Microsoft Excel could be describer as beginner, intermediate, or advanced; your proficiency in a foreign language, as basic, conversational, professional, near-native, or native.

I agree with you entirely and it fills me with the most deep feeling of sadness when I hear people with absolutely no education in such matters repeating the total rubbish thrust upon them by their church. There really is no substitute for real knowledge. To live a life based completely on a religious myth is a travesty, a very great pity for so many people and a genuine threat to an awful lot of us. Without a radical overhaul of the American education system their nation and it is only their nation, will slip further away than they already are, from those of us in the developed world.

To me it means the extent to which you can undertake a given assignemt if work related or if education related what level of educated you have attained.
