There's nothing to be scared about. You'll get weighed and probably asked to pee in a cup. They'll calculate your due date based on the date of your last menstrual period. Then you'll get an internal exam, just like when you have a check up. If the doc has ultra sound there, he'll do one of them or give you orders to go get one. He'll go over any blood work you may have had done prior to your visit. You'll get instructions on what to eat and what meds to avoid. He will listen externally for a heartbeat, and if they have the device my doc has, you can hear it too. He'll also measure your belly and keep track of that measurement and will be able to guess as to the size and rate of growth. You will be weighed, pee in the cup, and measured at every check up. (The internal exam is usually just for the first time you're there, and then not again until near the end unless you are having difficulties.) Then you'll be scheduled for the next appointment. I'm not sure how often someone that is not high risk goes, since I was high risk and had to go monthly, sometimes more. No worries, it's just a regular docs appointment. And....CONGRATULATIONS!

It's been a long time for me but there's nothing to be afraid of...the doc will help you pinpoint the due date, find out if there are any concerns, probably give you some info. I don't know if he/she will do a pelvic but its something you have to deal with when you're having a baby anyway. You'll probably get to hear the heartbeat. It's an exciting time for you- congratulations and I hope all goes well.

lots of questions, probably pee in a cup, an ultrasound so the doc can take a peek at the little one (this may be internal, if so the doc will insert a probe into your vagina, its not painful at all be feels kinda strange) and a pelvic exam... not so pleasant but not as bad as say having a cavity filled.

tell the doc it's your first visit and you're really nervous about it. they'll be very understanding... lots of women are nervous.

good luck and congrats

You'll do just fine. They'll check your blood pressure. Then they'll do a female physical. They'll do a pap smear. They'll take a few vials of blood. And they'll listen to the baby's heart beat. They may do an ultra sound to help determine the baby's age and make sure the baby is in the uterus. You'll be so excited when you are all done. Be happy. You are about the hear your baby for the first time.

Just relax yourself. Dont be nervous. Clear all of your queries with the doctor. Do not hesitate.
Avoid negative thoughts...and always think positively...concentrate on good things...probably that will help your child a lot ...

No biggie. They will do an ultrasound where you can hear the baby's heartbeat. Another month or so & you can find out if it's a boy or girl. Nothing to be worried about.
