In a marriage, usually one person works full time and someone stays home with the children or both work and struggle to find childcare (and to pay for it). In these cases, the children either are closer to one parent or long for both of their attention as they are at work all day long.

Wouldn't it work out fantastic if the parents could both work part time, that way the kids would see both of their parents during the week, there would be more family time together, and both parents could work, but not too much, and still see their children?

The only problem is that you have to be full time to get benefits like insurance and stuff...I think they offer healthcare to part time workers.

I meant I think they SHOULD offer healthcare to parttime workers...

That is a good idea.

One reason why familes break apart, because a lot of kids only know one parent.

John Stossell did a report, it talked about both parents working all the time. It's becasue people want MORE stuff, than they did 20 years ago.

Example--everyone wants a 3 car garage now....1 car garage isn't good enough. Sad

For generations, grandparents have raised the grandchildren. That's the best solution. Parents in their prime can work to support the extended family. Grandparents can contribute to the family by raising the grandchildren. The grandchildren are well loved. This is something any family can do. There is no need to change society, corporate hiring practices, work schedules, etc.

Alternatively, people can be self employed, if they desire, and set their own schedules. The more education and skills you have, the more flexibility you have in setting your work environment. My company allows me to work from home 2 days a week.

Many parents do full time shift work.

Mom may work 1st shift and Dad works 3rd shift until the kids are in school.

Personally, since you did ask, parents should NOT have children that they cannot afford to take care of.

I don't know if this is a state mandate or federal, but if you work 30hrs per week and your employer has healthcare, then they're to offer it.
