classic would have to be... Casablanca or Gone with the wind
mystery: Alfred Hitchcocks The Birds
New: Anchorman
Stylized: Sin City
Mobster: Resevoir Dogs
I hope that helped... I took a film class and ultimately some of the best directors are Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, and Alfred Hitchcock.

The English Patient.
It's been the most brilliant book adaptation I've ever seen even if the task was probably the most difficult one. It's won 9 Oscars, not without any reasons. Romantic, heart rending stories and beautiful, perfect scenes of the period. All this was in written in the finest literary English and played by an all-star cast.
Even Madonna cried when she saw the movie.

My all time favorite is Casablanca. Other great choices would be Gone With The Wind, Inherit the Wind, Citizen Kane, 2001: A Space Odyssey and more I can't think of at the moment.

"A Star is Born" starring Judy Garland and James Mason is considered by critics as the finest dramatic musical ever made. Three hours long, Garland is at her peak and belts out so many great Harold Arlen songs one is left speechless. Must be seen on DVD which is the uncut version.

My all time favorite move is The Shawshank Redemption, if you have not seen it check out TBS. They sometimes have Shawshank marathons, which actually annoys me.
Another favorite is The Cowboys (a John Wayne movie)
It's hard to list just one.............
