It was an area where hunting gathering way of living had been replaced by agriculture, and to have many crops people had to wet the fields during the dry season, this required organization in building, organizing, maintaining and protecting water works, this need for organization was the basis for the first kingdoms, for writing and arithmetic, or in short for the basics of human organization and civilization

A. Food was a main concern at that time and this was one of the best areas for food production. This my opinion. Today the Fertile Crescent is not what it was at that time, but, with proper irrigation it is still a good farming area.
