How do I make my computer turn on by itself and turn off at a certain time?

I have Windows XP. I also want the computer to run programs by itself when I'm not home.

You might be able to set it up in your BIOS to turn on at a certain time. Then, you just need to use Scheduled Tasks in Windows to set up programs to run and when to shut down.
