It was a probably a hired hand. There is no way that Johnny Depp could possibly answer all his fan mail on his own. If he really cares about his fans he will hire someone to help so that every letter is answered.
This person is authorized by Johnny Depp so in effect you are being answered by him.

I don't think Johnny Depp has time to write people back. I think that's why celebs hire people to do those things. It would be really cool if it was him but you'll never know.

I think it was a worker because when u get pics back they are mostly autopens. I wrote to him like a month ago and i am just waiting for him to send me a pic and reply back!!

He might have someone who responds to his e-mails, or then again you never know some in spare time will actually attempt to answer letters!!!
