We were to Hersheypark last weekend and most of the big rollercoasters were too scary for her.

The drive thru animal safari alone is worth the trip for children. The animals come right up to your car- except the dangerous ones. It is really cool. In the park there are plenty of rides for kids, but their focus is the big coasters. That's ok though- because most people are stuck in 3 hour lines to get on the major attractions making it easier to navigate the rest of the park. You can get tix online for a 33% discount if you don't have a better coupon. Like I said- the safari alone makes it worth the trip.
Also I do not know where Manhasset Ny is, but Lake Compounce in Bristol, Ct is perfect for that age group. Check it out:

Six Flags is on the 'roller coaster' end of the spectrum too. Their big name rides are far hairier than Hershey Park. There is a little kids area, but it's kind of small and you're going to pay a lot to get in to the park to begin with.

Our experience at six flags has always been nice, especially kids would luv animal safari. There are lots of rides in six flags, and yes some are scary. Use your best judgement. Plus near six flags in nj, there is a mall. So it would be a whole day affair. Have a nice time

Dorney Park is STILL OPEN on the weekends.....the "HALLOW WEEKENDS" are great fun for young and old. Try www.dorneypark.com

six flags is great for kids! there's a bugs bunny land just for kids. they have a lot of kiddie rides too.
