I was on bc for six years. I have now been off for one month. I want to get back on but my period hasn't come yet. Do I have to wait until my period comes to get back on?

Yeah, you have to wait. Just in case you may be pregnant, you don't want to take the meds yet. It will come, give your body sometime, it has been loaded with artificial hormones.

It's not good to be on birth control for a long period of time, 6 yrs., unless you know for sure you don't want to have kids. I'm not saying you still can't have them though. I would wait until my period come back on to start back. If your period doesn't come on consult a doctor.

What kind of birth control were you on? I was on the shot for 6 years and it took about six months for my period to return. I don't think that you will have to wait for your period to start for you to start another birth control. Good luck.

I'm not a Doctor but I would say yes just in case you are pregnant. I would use other means of BC till you started your period again then follow the normal guidelines of restarting your other form of BC

Hey girly, you know I had to answer you for the free 2 pts. Umm I believe you do have to wait, I bet your period maybe a little out of wack due to absense of the pill for a whole month. You may have to wait a month or so to get your period, at least your pregnant!!!

Yes unfortunately you have to wait until you get your period again before they will put you back on birth control.

Yes, you usually do, but I think that they might have a pill that you can take before your period starts. But the best thing to do is to check with your gynecologist first.

I would go to the doctor, or have you? If your doctor suggest you wait then wait. Also use condoms until you have actually been on the pill for more than two weeks.

good luck

it's lot better to wait because then you'll be more organized and find out if you're not pregnant. ps my gf asked her doc 3 months ago about that.
