The name of that doctor does sound familiar to me as I live in Virginia Beach. As unfortunate as the outcome is I have to wonder why more questions were not asked 'prior' to the surgery taking place as any surgery can have complications that can become more than minor. Perhaps even a second opinion. Also, under the laws of HIPAA the patient does have the right to view, and have a copy of, her medical record. A fee is allowed to be charged for this service, but there is a max amount that can be charged. I would suggest contacting the Medical Review Board and escalate the complaint from there. I wish the patient the best of luck.
