You need a valid I.D, and money. If you got good credit they won't ask you for a down payment. If you have bad to not credit you need to make a down payment. (T-mobile 250.00,Cingular 500.00 and Verizon can ask you for up to 1.000.00 in down payment)since it is you first time I would go with T-mobile, because they got good low monthly plans.

Nothing. You just sign up, pick your phone and pick your plan. The phone is almost always free (at least, mine always are) and the plans usually include pictures, text, and free local and long distance calling (at least, mine do).

I've never shown a drivers license, or given a credit card, or paid any money up front for any plans. They mail you the phone. The bill comes the month after and every month after that.

a state issued i.d. a home address and money... if you have no credit they will probably want a deposit...depeding on the company this can be several hundred dollars. you will get this money back assuming you pay your bill at the end of the contract period.

If you are going to college, you might check and see if whatever university you go to might be able to get you discounts. My school offers discounts from Cingular, and if I wanted, I could get $50 off of those Motorola Razrs that everyone seems to be carrying around.

I definitely recommend trying to get a discount if you can. ;)

Like everything else in America you need money. Cold hard cash. Your parents should've explained this to you already.
