I am doing a project for my Tech Ed. class and i need to know the differences between old and new mufflers. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Olders need to be changed because their internal filters might be all used up and unefficient to block the various pollutants into the atmosphere.

Also if the mufler has holes, the car would not go as fast which means that the car is less fuel-efficient.

Old mufflers make noise and individuals can be given a ticket if the noise gets too loud.

I am not sure what you mean. Old could mean older types or just old in age. New either means new as just bought or made or a new design. if it is for a class I would think it means the difference in the construction and materials. How do you mean it?

Hi. Very old exhaust systems did not have catalytic converters.
