I am considering purchasing the new iPod Nano, yet am wondering which storage amount most people use. I have 1.58G of songs on iTunes now, and of course am planning on adding more. Should I get the 2G Nano, or splurge and get the 4G? This is my first mp3 player (yea I know, welcome to the 21st century).

If your splurging might as well go for the 30GB instead of the 4GB, unless you want the nano.

Mine will hold about 8000 songs depending on length and quality, and I already have about 4000 on it. Plus about 2000 pictures and some video files.

Also, keep in mind, you can buy direct from www.apple.com, select what school you go to and get %% off, plus they'll engrave it for free....

I'd just get the video iPod. 2GB is awful, you'll get past that soon. Or if you're just a music person, don't get an iPod. iPods break really easy and are cheap. I would look at some reviews and features of different mp3 players. I happen to have a Creative Zen Vision:M and I love it more than my iPod. Especially now that you can buy videos on Amazon. But if you're certain you want an iPod, the video is probably the best one. It's worth having the video, especially in places that are boring.

It depends whether you like (and listen to ) all the songs at once or not.

I get bored of songs quite quickly... and even though i have 5gb of sounds on my computer... i don't like most of them... and the current ones i like and am really in to ... are less than 20 songs... and in total... all the songs i ever fell inlove... less than 100 songs.

you don't have to put all the songs you hav into the ipod... cuz i had a creative zen last time with 5gb and i remember having songs in there that i don't even listen to for eons until the random play is on.

now i have a samsung 512mb mp3 player and got all the songs i really like and a specific folder just for the current song i'm really into so i don't have to switch up and down when i'm enjoying the music. can be annoying if i have to keep clicking on the buttons to find the song i like... so i organise it before hand in the order i like.

everyone is different... i wouldn't pay extra to keep songs that i don't like and... most of my friends who have 40gb ipods don't even use 1/4 of the space... i also dun think anyone would manage to listen to 40gb of songs in a week without going back to their computer.

at the end of the day.... its ur decision and what you feel happy with :)

your better off spending 100 dollars more and getting a 30 gb

at least this way you won't overfill your iPOD unless you have 10000 songs which nobody does

i have about 700gb of mp3s, i get about 1gb a week of new music
i have a 1gb nano, its enough for me, if i wanna listen to more than that, the music is too old by them time i get to it
