I was in the grocery store yesterday and a sparrow flew in the front doors and landed right at my feet at the register where I was checking out. It wouldn't move until some people that worked there came and tried to pick it up, it let them, then flew away once outside. Creepy! My question is, aren't sparrows pretty much always bad luck?

I just remembered this is my second sparrow incident. A week ago I was walking and there was a bunch of sparrows on the ground, they all flew away as I approached except one, it flew towards me, around me, then flew away. I'm terrified of birds, and I'm not terribly superstitious so maybe I'm just paranoid.

Absolutely not bad luck! In fact, a wonderful message! Sparrows can survive and thrive in just about any environment. They are a cheerful, lively sound to many, are small yet strong.
- This sparrow apparently really wanted to make sure that you 'got the message!' So, take a look at what's going on in your life in context with what you know about sparrows. You can also check out the Ted Andrews books. He has great info that may be helpful to you in understanding this particular incident.
Blessings on you!

Birds have nothing to do with luck. Luck is a combination of advance preparation, good timing and being in the right place.
A sparrow falling at your feet is a sign of a too-pooped-to-pop sparrow, that's all. That it allowed a human to pick it up and tote it out proves that: A) it was totally tuckered, or B) it was sick, or C) it was paralysed with terror. Nothing else.

sparrows are only bad luck if they hit glass and you are around. that usually means someone close to you will pass away.
black birds are bad luck all around, so if one of those lands near your feet then you need to worry.
but as far as a sparrow landing by your feet, typically that means that good luck is in your future. if you are pregnant and one lands by your feet that is usually a sign you will give birth to a boy. i had one land on my shoulder while i was pregnant and a friend said that meant i would give birth to a baby girl. well, i have a nine year old daughter today.

Sparrows are just plain birds. They, like all other birds, animals,or insects have absolutely nothing to do with luck, good or bad.
Whenever you see an animal acting strangely it's probably because the animal is very old or sick.

I don't thinkl sparrows mean bad luck. This one was lucky he wasn't manhandled too roughly when he fell at your feet! Yes it wulud have been freaky but then ... Look at it this way. Animals can tell far more about us than we can. This little sparrow probably came because he could sense you were a good person.

Yeah sparrows mean DEATH and so do trolls, you got any trolls running around your house?? They steal all the good T.P. and so will the sparrows, the sparrows usually eat it or build w/ it. So you don't need to go after the sparrows, the t.p. won't be any good. So good luck for fighting the trolls and sparrows for your good toilet paper!!! HAPPY HUNTING!

only when they fly into your window. ouch that hurts. birds hitting a window and not making is supposed to be bad luck. ravens and crows are supposed to be bad luck. many differnt cultures have different birds. I bet if you tried you may find one that has a sparrow. However generlly bad luck generally happens because one believes it and in outlooks(at least in my opinion)

Bad Luck: Sparrows are said to carry the souls of the deceased to the after-life. To kill one means that you will be cursed.
