Alright.

Is it socially acceptable for women to fart? No. Of course not.

Not in Western civilization anyway. Maybe in some other cultures or 3rd-world countries, but not in contemporary, modern Western society. It's considered bad etiquette for anyone to fart in public, but socially it is far more acceptable when it comes from a man.

I was at a job interview once and the well-dressed female interviewing me let 'er rip. Not even a smile or a 'pardon me', just as if I was deaf and hadn't heard it. How is that supposed to represent the company she works for? It was pretty gross. If a man had done that while interviewing someone for a job, that would be quite awful - but imagine, a woman, wearing a skirt and formally dressed!

A lot of the answers you got to this question just don't answer your question. They say things like if you have to fart, just do it; women fart too; etc. Well, that is not what you asked. You wanted to know if it's socially acceptable for women to do it and it just ISN'T.

Personally, I like it this way. What would happen if there was no social etiquette? You'd be at the doctor's office and he, or she, would start scratching their privates and picking their nose. Is that the type of world you wanna live in? Not me. Let 'er rip in public if you must, but know that it is *not* socially acceptable.

In today's society the bodily functions of men and women are more accepted. However you should note that the release of gas in society is still not widely accepted especially in crowded areas. I do not personally think that women should be placed in a position where by they should hold in their gas but then again woman are still perceived as being the fairer sex even though women daily prove that they are just as capable as most men. I hope that helps a little bit.

Whether its acceptable or not, women and men do it. If you are asking is it acceptable to fart in public, out loud and not caring.... Then I dont think its a good idea, for ladies or anyone else. Everyone may do it, but you dont have to remind ppl about!!

It's not acceptable for anyone to fart in public. People aren't allowed to smoke in certian places due to the smell but you're asking if it's OK to fart?

Depends on the culture of the society in question, the danish or English elegance would be shocked to think of such an act, whereas the Australian culture is more open to the bodily functions and accept it as nature.

A lot of the guys in here will tell you to "let it rip," but society would tell you otherwise. If gas needs to go, then it has to go, but most of us have the ability to let it out quietly. That's the acceptable norm for both men and women.

If you think I'm being too much of a prude, watch the commercial on the attached link, and then get back to me.

Absolutely not. This is precisely the reason they invented the new corkit-miss product. No lady would be in public without wearing one.

Ha, ha... just kidding. Bodily functions are often embarrassing when they occur as public entertainment, but they are also quite natural, and a simple "excuse me", or a quietly whispered oops is all that is required.

If you need to let it go then do so, why be in discomfort and pain just because you need expel excess waste gasses.

Go ahead and Fart (if you can, save some for when you're in the bath, it's a lot more fun)
