It seems like there would be a big mess! Did it get dust in the LEM?

Actually, only the ascent stage of the LEM left the moon. Part of the LEM remained behind. (Possibly with the suits?)

Sorry I call it the LEM instead of LM, but I just prefer it that way!

It was a real problem. And that's one reason, another being the weight, that the suits were left behind with the LEM base upon lift-off. The moon dust was capable of contaminating instruments in the LEM. So, on the moon today, their are 12 used space suits. You can look it up, or, also read the recent biography of Neil Armstrong, "First Man"

Edit: I was wrong...and so was Judge...the suits were brought back to Earth inside containment bags.

Some clarification to Judge P's comment...the suits were not left on the moon because the LEM's were not left on the moon. Each LEM blasted off from the moon with the astronauts in it. The LEM was jettisoned from the command module in space...and, yes, they left the suits inside.

(And seriously, how would they have gotten the suits into the LEM base that was left on the moon? Dee dee dee...think, man, think!)

And to your second question, yes, they did get a lot of dust into the LEM.

They brushed them off as well as they could, but yes, they got a lot of dust in the LM.

yes the lower part of the LM is still there and the rovers are too,but I don't think the spacesuits stayed there, and I think dust did get in the LM.
