Forts in Delhi
Counted among the premier tourist attractions of the city are the two majestic forts of Delhi, the Red Fort (Lal Qila) and the Old Fort (Purana Qila). From the Mughal period the Red Fort is alluring its visitors with the palaces and impressive public buildings that it contains within its premises, such as Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Rang Mahal and the Pearl Mosque. Earlier known as the seat of Mughals, Purana Qila, believed to be the site of Indraprastha of the Mahabharata period, is a fort build by emperor Humayun. The Fort also faces a zoo and Pragati Maidan exhibition grounds. Not to be missed is the sound and light show held every evening at the Old Fort, capturing some highlights of the legendary and historic past of India
