It doesn't turn on anymore and lost a key during the whole 'mopping' up thing! Will I get it back or a new one?!

Depends on the age of the laptop. If its new, they'll probably either fix it or send you a new one. If its old and the cost of repair is higher than its worth, you're more likely to be paid whatever they deem the laptop to be worth.

You will get a new one probably. It depends on how much damage you did. If it can be fixed for less, they will do that.

I would want the hard drive back no matter. It might be OK and you have data on it.

New one - you are lucky that the sticky stuff reaching the innards doomed the old one. Hopefully you don't have a deductible or depreciation-deduct on it so you will be the proud owner of an up-to-date one or the cash to buy that new one.

Nothing, you wont get it back, they are scared you will fix it up, (like if you can) then sell it, then you get back double.
