Salt water in the morning & evening.
Try not wear pants that rub on it.
The bar is better to start with than the ring.
It will be sore for about 2 weeks.
Sorry!

You should only be cleaning it twice a day, you are overcleaning it which can cause it to dry out and get irritated. Also don't touch it except when you are cleaning it. If you are not allergic you can take advil or motrin or some other ibuprofin product for pain and swelling.
I do not know what aftercare your piercer told you so I will now post mine so you can compare.
Body Piercings need to be cleaned twice daily, every day, for the entire initial healing time. Do not clean with your liquid soap product more than twice a day as this can irritate your piercing and possibly delay your healing. Before cleanings wash hands with liquid antibacterial soap and hot water. If you wish, you may wear disposable latex or vinyl gloves, and/or use a hand sanitizing gel. Never touch healing Piercings with dirty hands. This is vital for avoiding infections.
Prepare the area for cleansing by rinsing or soaking the area with warm water and be sure to remove any stubborn crust using a cotton swab and warm water, never pick with fingernails. This step is very important for your comfort.
Apply a small handful of liquid unscented antibacterial soap to the area with your clean hand. Cleanse the area and the jewelry, and gently rotate the jewelry back and forth a few times to work the soap to the inside of the piercing. (You do not need to rotate your jewelry during the first several cleanings) Allow the soap to cleanse there for a minute or so. You may bathe normally but don’t purposely work anything other than the cleanser on or inside of the piercing.
Rinse the area thoroughly under running water, while rotating the jewelry back and forth to completely remove cleanser residue from the inside and the outside of the piercing.
Gently pat dry with disposable paper products such as gauze or tissues, as cloth towels can harbor bacteria. If your piercing is tender or secreting you should continue the care regimen even if it is past the stated average healing time range.

H2Ocean, sterile saline wound wash, or sea salt soaks (pick one)

for H2Ocean or Sterile Saline Wound Wash: Just spray on pierced area and allow solution to dry and absorb into the skin. We recommend spraying the solution on the piercing every 3-4 hours, Do not dry the area let the solution dry and absorb in the skin.
Sea Salt soaks: mix 1/4 tspn non-iodized sea salt with 8 oz warm water and soak once a day for 5-10 minutes.

No rubbing alcohol, no peroxide these chemicals will irritate a piercing and cause it to take longer to heal.
No neo-sporin this will cause a piercing to reject.

I've had mine for over 10 years now. It was pretty sore for a few weeks (like a sore pimple or something) but you should only clean it once or twice a day with betadine and be sure your hands are clean. You may be over cleaning it and in doing so overhandling it and disturbing the healing process. Just keep an eye on it and clean it gently. Also, I don't know if a bar is better or not. Seems to me that a bar would be more likely to snag on something and cause discomfort but I'd have to see it to be sure. Anyway good luck and it should stop being sore in a few weeks.

you dont mention what your cleaning it with...it's more likely than not just angry from everyday abuse (gym, clothing, sleeping on it, etc-imagine how much more it would be with a ring sticking out, yes the curved barbell is better) or you could possibly be pulling crusties into the wound which could lead to an infection. there is absolutely no need to be moving the jewelry, it will not grow onto it and most people end up doing more damage (some will say rotate it to get soap in there...it's really just going to irritate, the wound should not be getting any excessive bacteria into it and the main worry is the skin around which will hold this bacteria.) take some ibuprofen and baby it this is one of the harder piercings to heal

this depends on how fast your body heals. I got a piercing and it did not hurt unless I touched it to much! Just watch what you wear and make sure that nothing touches it and try cleaning it with peroxide and use a and d ointment on it or neosporin and I hope this works, this is what I used and I good to go and can wear anything! Leave the bar in for at least 4-6wks and just move the bar up and down after cleanings!

The belly button area is easily infected and irritated, bars are better for bellon button piercings, but usually they do put a ring in to start off with because it's easier to move around and prevent the hole from trying to close up. Try moving it more, seeing a doctor, or if worse comes to worse, you may need to remove it, let it heal and then get it done somewhere else. Investigate into the places you get it done at because not all of them are hygenic.

most of them got it right. the soreness can last for a few weeks or so. 1st, remember everyone is different, and will heal in different ways, so don't try to rely on other peoples experience. also, every shop has slightly different care procedures, so you'll probably hear quite a few methods. just think off what a docter would advise, clean the wound twice a day, but not vigorously, apply triple anti-biotic after cleaning once or twice a day. watch for excess redness, swelling, fever(in the area), and puss, these are signs of infection. if they arise, consult a doctor, not your piercer(and not your friends).

i got mine done about 3-4 months ago. it hurt for about a week after i got it pierced, so its not problem. It didn't hurt exactly when I got it pierced, but it hurt really bad after. So be careful and try not to be to physical, or it may get infected. And it may bleed every once in a while for about a week also.

I not have one myself. But, do know a few women who do. Above are some good answers. I just wanted to say; do not play with it too much. One girl's eventually ripped out, not like rip as in pain. But, maybe it was not done correctly and it did not hold. So, she felt it may be how her skin was in that area and had something else pierced. :-p

Make sure that you clean it with an antibacterial soap. Do not mess with it and keep the ring that they used to peirce it. Don't change it until it's been in for at least 6 wks. If you can avoid wearing anything that may aggitate it, then do it.
