depends on the color of red:
bright red: seek medical attention asap
medium red: if last for more than few hours contact doctor
crayon red: normal but watch closely
dark red or maroon: absolutely normal
brownish red: you might have stool mixing with menstrual fluids

But not everything that comes out is going to be "blood" red. Sometimes it can look like a dark brown or light brown. And sometimes it will look pink.

OH NO!!! It's not!! Get to the doctor immediately!! It's supposed to be a vibrant neon green color. You are probably suffering from a condition known as normalperiodosis. It's treatable by using maxi-pads or tampons for the duration of the bleeding.
