Because women were tainted in the bible; and women can't have an active role in the religious practices.

A son carries the family name while the daughter loses the family name upon marriage. Old patrilineal customs die hard but at least I have a son who will have my last name.

because son tend to follow their tradition while daughter will follow
her in-law
