Well if you take pain killers, you're going to end up becoming addicted to them, which will then eat your stomach lining, and may possibly do other damage. If you want the temporary relief until you can find another suitable treatment, depending on you, you can try vicodin (hydrocodone). Some people feel oxycodone (percocet) is stronger, or OxyContin. If you have been to these doctors, ask for a pain killer and muscle relaxor. Look into Dolobid (Diflunisal) - an anti-inflammatory muscle relaxor.
When you use a heating pad or take a hot bath, your muscles will be relaxed, unfortunately, once you start using the muscles or bones, everything will start to hurt again because of your movements. the lady above me is correct, see an osteopathic doctor or some orthopedics.
The one thing I could recommend for you is a bit illegal, but I've suffered back pain since I was 13 (i'm 24 now). At most times, it's intense, but sometimes can be tolerable. Try marijuana - I know I know, some people look down upon it, but I have no complaints. Sure, it's bad for my lungs, and I can't remember sh*t now, but my pain is tolerable and sometimes puts a smile on my face (and since I'm an artist, it gives me a creative edge to draw / graphic design).
These are just some suggestions. Hope you miraculously wake up and feel a whole lot better one day.

If the pain meds aren't working anymore, I strongy suggest trying some alternative medicine instead - some of which is covered by insurance. A lot of people with chronic pain have success with accupuncture - I have several personal friends who only receive relief from this treatment, and not from the meds. You could also try massage or accupressure, but make sure you speak with your doctor to find out if these might exacerbate your current issue, rather than make it better. You could also try visiting a Chinese Herbal Shop - they're amazing! I had one guy diagnose my lactose intolerance just by looking at my mouth - and I was in a shop in Scotland where I'd never been before! Try also researching special diets or clinical trials that might give you stronger meds. I'm so sorry you're going through this - I can't even imagine what it's like not being able to play with your daughter.

Chiropractors can help some people, or see a good osteopath.
Some of my friends have gotten relief from drinking monavie juice.
Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine and Prescription For Natural Cures are two good referencees for alternative ways to deal with chronic pain
See Magnet Therapy by dr Lawrence and Rosch
Also see: The Miracle of MSM (same guys- they run a pain clinic)
Finally chek out The Aspirin Alternative (wobenzym n)
Good luck and God bless!

Well, first off there is a movement of some sort in this country dealing with back injury. Our corporate America and politicians are in cohoots because no one wants to own up and pay for what they've done to millions of workers! Doctors are getting kick backs from insurance carriers to send you on your way! So welcome to the club!!!
However, as a suggestion from someone who has experienced this for 20 years, you need to see a pain management specialist. They will determine the root cause and treat it accordingly. I get facet joint injections which help tremndously but only for short periods- 3-4 months. And on top of that you can only have this treatment twice a year due to the drug used. I also had surgery but that too has its complications. Your best bet is finding the pain management specialist for evaluation and treatment.
This is alll providing you've seen a neurological specialist first. I'm told we all have buldging disc the older we get. Nothing uncommon!

HI, I lived with severe back pain for 5 years, I am allergic to all pain meds. not to mention how bad they are for your body. I am a nutritionalist so was taking about $300. of "natrual" things each mont from MSM to glucosomine etc. some one told me to try a product called Xango .. it has been around for decades with over 50 years of scientific study.. I thought snake oil nothing does all this claims to do, I tried it though... and after the first 2 bottles I realized I was pain free for the first itme in 5 years. It is a natrual juice made from the mangosteen fruit out of E. Asia. I now would not live with out it. It has other great benifits as well. you can look up the website if you would like. Email for any more information be glad to share. Hope this helps.:)

I have a similar problem..I've gone to a spine specialist, physical therapy, still have pain! I've been going to a chiropractor, who a few people I know recommended. So far, it's helped a little. Maybe that'd help for you? He got my disks back in place.

Try spinal decompression. It may also be called a traction table. It takes a few treatments but it really helped me. Also pain killers, but be careful as they are very addictive and your body wants more and more.

i would stretch and try to do back exercise. you might need surgery are u could have a pinch nerve due to the accident with your back. but with 4 disks there's really not much that they can do unless the surgery. try ex rays your spine could be crooked.
