It doesn't really matter if god actually exists or not, but whether people need to believe in a higher power existing. Belief trumps reality in a lot of cases, after all.
The reality of god's existence is difficult to prove either way. And you're not going to get a straight answer out of anybody about that, since it's belief-based, at this point.
Perhaps the question ought to be (at least for this psychology section) "why do people need to believe there is - or isn't - god?"

God is different for alot of people but i can only tell you what i have heard my whole life. There is a god and everything. You should find a local church and try going there. I warn you....bad christians or catholics or whatever you choose will be judgemental. ignore them....try talking to the pastor of the church afterwards about your questions. if you dont like it then remain un religious. nothing wrong with that.

Yes, The proof is in the Bible. Read The gospel of John is where you need to start. Get a new King James version Bible with a good commentary. McCarthy is a good one. scientist teach differently but have never been able to explain it.If the scientist or atheist are right then you have nothing to lose. I f I and all Christians are right then you have everything to lose. Check out the facts.

Gods, devils, angels, demons, dragons, hippogriffs, wyverns, basilisks, kirins, mengs, fengs, loongs, Bigfoot, ghosts, ET's, Loch Ness monsters, credible Democratic presidential candidates, etc. are creatures of imagination. There is no logical or scientific evidence for the actual objective existence of any of them.

I think maybe not.... I was really religious as a child, then grew up and studied everything a LOT and now I am an athiest.... BUT I guess it is different for everyone, a frame of mind, and if you believe, then it is real for you.
