They say in the salon that it's pain-free but then it said that on my electric epilator as well and that wasn't true! Please help!

Personal experience - you will feel like little rubber bands are snapping you but it's very tolerable. If you're doing something like your bikini, DO NOT go right before or during your period. That area down there gets waaaay too sensitive during that time and it is painful. What I do when I go is take some ibuprofin a little before the treatment. When you do it, they tell you that you should be feeling something or else the laser isn't doing it's job of getting to your hair follicle. Afterwards, there are numbing creams available but I have never needed to use them. You will be a little red for about 20 mins. but it won't hurt at all. Totally reccomend it!!

I had IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) which is one of the top treatments for both hair and spider vein (for very small veins)removal. It is like a lasar treatment- but uses light from the other end of the spectrum. It costs about $500 for a 1hr session in Massachusetts. I've had 3 or so treatments on both legs for my spider veins- and I still have hair- but noticably less of it. It stings when the light is applied, but the nurse who does it applies a cold gel on my skin to lessen the pain. It feels sort of like snapping a rubber band HARD against your skin. Over and over again. Some times my eyes water a little bit but it really isn't that bad. The results arent dramatic- and it is an expensive treatment. I am really happy with how well it has cleared up my spider veins though. And it is a good idea to take an ibuprophen before going, to reduce swelling and pain. There is no pain after the treatment though.

It can't be anymore painful than waxing. LOL

It can be a little expensive but I think they told me about once a month you go for a session. It can take a few sessions depending on how much you are having done. It was approx. $100 a visit unless you buy more than one visit at a time.

I've had a laser zap me before for another procedure and they described it as a rubber band snapping but I didn't think it was that bad at all. Everyone has a different tolerance for pain. PLUS you can ask for the topical oitment for the skin and it will help deaden the pain before you even start.

It's effective. You go for about 6 months and at most places, if hair grows back you can go back for more treatments free of charge.
They normally put the devise on a very sensitive area and they turn it up by degrees, you tell them what level you can handle. It is less painful than any other type of hair removal, do it!
