yes! sometimes it just drops right into your computer without you knowing it. had this happen at work recently and it totally fried my hard drive

yes. Ad-aware by lavasoft.com offers a good free adware remover. Search and destroy is also a good free adware remover that allows you to set an option that blocks most majot adware programs that attach themselves to your computer.

Yes, but it is much less likely if you keep your Windows fully updated and patched every month and you never allow a website to install an Active-X control on your computer. Never lower your Internet Zone security level below Medium and never turn off your firewall for even a minute.

Remember, Microsoft issues updates on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.

Yes, you can get spyware/adware by just visiting a site...it automatically installs without you knowing about it. Not all sites have it, and some are harmless.
