It IS actually to do with diet, but the reason behind it is that years ago loads of dogs were given bones to chew (usually off the meat the butcher gave her when your mammy made the stew or something).
These days I think dog owners must be told by their vet that bones are bad for dogs. The 2 main reasons for this are that the dogs would chew the bone and they'd end up with splinters sticking in their mouth sometimes from trying to crack it open to get to the marrowbone inside, which is why they chew them in the first place. AND.... the reason which made their poo white is because of all the calcium going into in their bellies from sucking on the bones. This had some bad effects if they OD'd on Calcium. An overdose of calcium in a human could send you crazy. I think this can happen to dogs too, but another symptom would be that things in their stomach would calcify and be harder to digest. This would show up when they passed it through as their waste being white.

White dog poo is no longer seen because the high calcium bone meal that used to be a key ingredient in cheap dog biscuits is no longer used in the UK.
Dogs fed this all the time defecated white stools due to the fact that they couldn't absorb the high levels of calcium in the bulking agent.

White crumblies!...Remember them well from my youth too.
I reckon it's to do with diet. A lot more people nowadays look after they're pets better. ie, give 'em proper dog food which now has all the nutrients and goodness designed for a dog that a dog loves and needs.
When dogs, years ago, were kept as pets, they generally ate what the owner ate. Which was not what a dog needed for proper canine health.
Also, street cleaners have a lot to do with it. It gets cleared up a lot quicker, therefore the rain does not get chance to wash the 'browness' out.(yuk!).

It must be what they fed dogs on years ago. New brands, tastes etc. have been introduced over the years so maybe the white poo dog meat is out of production now.

I think it maybe due to the dog poo being cleaned up before turning white.
Try Paris to see white poo again.

It disappeared when people stopped giving their dogs bones to eat!! If the current trend for feeding raw meat and bones takes off it will come back.

I think that's what use to happen to it when it stayed out in the cold. Now that people have to clean up after their pets it's less noticeable.
