i know it may sound silly but plz ask questions frm me as i hv to attend discussion class abt this topic tommorrow!

2) Describe the movement of substances such as hormones out of a cell
3) What is a) exocytosis?

4) Describe the structure of the cell membrane according tho the Fluid Mosaic model.
5) Why does water move in and out of cells easily?
6) Describe the transport of a) ions?
b) proteins?
across the cell membrane.
7) True or false: a) The cell membrane is composed of 2 layers?
b) Proteins that span the membrane are integral
c) Cell membrane is a lipid bi-layer
d) Consists of hydro- phobic and -phiic parts

OK, here's one that poses an interesting conundrum for a biology teacher - see if they come up with the right answer.

If a virus replicates itself by inserting it's DNA through the cell wall into the interior, then kills the cell when it ruptures and releases all the new viruses it was forced to create, why can't we fight viruses by finding a compound that makes the cell walls impenetrable to viruses?

The answer of course is that if the cell wall is impenetrable, the cell itself would die anyway for lack of the permeability it needs to trade materials in and out.
