im really grateful to unions that actually do something to increase the possibility of enhancing the way we live... just imagine living wihout those groups... i mean it would be one hell of a world!!! They help in protecting our rights and help in stabilizing social classes.
I emphasized unions that do something and backs up one another cause there are unions without those things, those that don't know where they stand, Im highlighting those unions that don't leave you out in the cold!

This is a tough question since unions have clearly done a lot of good by helping to create/boost the American middle class. However, they have been overplaying their hand for decades and are getting burned for this. Unfortunately they are taking a lot of non-union people down with them. Companies outsource or move to regions of the country where unions aren't as strong because they don't want to pay unskilled labor above-market wages. Back in Detroit, or Milwaukee, or Cleveland or whereever, growth remains stagnant as industries close up shop and move south or out of the country altogether. In this process lots of engineers, managers, and other skilled positions are lost.
I think in general a union is a device to make a trade into a profession. Thus skilled trades unions make some sense, but the autoworkers, for example, are not a skilled trade, and most Americans would consider their pay package to be unfair. I mean why should a guy assembling cars make so much more than a guy assembling dishwashers, or most people with a college degree for that matter.
I guess I am thankful for the unions of the progressive and WWII era, and I have no gripe with many of the modern trade unions who are concerned with worker competancy and safety as much as their pay, but when I see unions like the pilots or the UAW, all I see is one huge oligopolistic moneygrab screwing American consumers. Its no diffent than if several large corporations aligned to raise prices. Because thats really what a union is is a corporation. They supply workers to a client (the company) for the worker's hourly fee (wages) plus a percent profit (union dues). The only difference is they are employee owned (though there are many smaller corps set up like this.)

Organized labor has two distinct sides.
Trade unions (capenters, iron workers and electricians, etc.) are useful at keeping the tradesmen employed as they jump from job to job, maintaining a working wage and assuring only trained personnel are doing the jobs.
But many labor unions do not represent the workers, they take dues and the business agents form relationships with the employers to stay in place. So rather than represent the union rank and file, they are business partners with the employers.
Labor unions played an important role in worker safety over the years, but since 1972 with the OSH Act their role has diminished. The other downside to unions is it glorifies seniority, not merit.
Trade unions have a role in the modern business world, labor unions just want dues from the working stiffs they really don't represent.
(I know that this is a gross generalization and some people have been helped by labor unions, but I've seen grievance procedures predetermined by management and the business agent and unions who just take dues and neglect their end of the collective bargaining and let management dictate the terms.)

i hit upon it exciting that your situation for the worker is so good. You communicate as if the business enterprise pay no longer something even if the worker wages. You seem to have forgotten about the cost of the products they promote, the cost paid to the authorities with a view to open the business enterprise, the cost of the progression, the utilities and the legal duty coverage besides because the worker comp coverage opt to cover each and every worker. Then your argument is that the union have some tremendous ability to make it more beneficial positive. i change right into a member of the union the in worry-free words ingredient they did for me change into take my complicated earned money which prevented me from feeding my kinfolk. You communicate as if the union is the in worry-free words answer to workers creating wealth. You forgot to communicate about that the union boss are many of the time stealing from the very club they declare to care about. You fail to communicate about that maximum democrats are being paid through the unions. You fail to communicate about that the union invested no longer something into the business enterprise and many do not understand what it takes to maintain a business enterprise afloat as you your self do not understand of. you opt to initiate a business enterprise then come back and tell me how a lot income is quite in business enterprise. playstation maximum business enterprise are traded on the open marketplace so a similar worker ought to purchase stocks of the business enterprise and share in all that income you communicate of. Unions were a strong ingredient seventy 5 years in the past yet at the prompt are merely a waste of time as guidelines on the e book ward off maximum something the union can seem after you from except lazy coworkers.

I like the ancient guild tradition expressed in modern trade unions.
Union trade schools produce the most highly skilled workers. Provide a automatic quality control with skill certification And lower the the over long term cost of real property ownership.
If you just want a cheap temporary fix to your labor needs. Hire someone from the Home Depot street corner.
