I am lucky to live fairly close to them--they are gorgeous!

Yes, I have been there. Both the USA and the Canadian side.
The falls themselves are quite spectacular, but the rest is rather tacky. To much fake. A little more attention to the natural environment would have helped tremendously. It's a pity.
But the water itselfs is wonderfull

Oh yes, many times. I live in NY State. I love to visit them during the off season. My bf & I were there last February. The falls in the Winter are GORGEOUS!
I actually prefer the view from the American side, but both views are breathtaking. And the Niagara river (USA side) and the Niagara rapids (Canadian side) are well worth seeing as well.

I've been to Niagara Falls and found them to be stunning. The Maid of the Mist was great. The only thing that I didn't like was the "tourist trap" thing going on. I found it impossible to get a decent meal at a reasonable price.
Other than that i had a great time and loved all the museums.

I live 15 minutes away and would only go if I had visitors. The Canadian side is a lot nicer but it is a tourist trap and I avoid as much as possible. The New Casino is bringing hundreds of visitors daily.

Yes. I you're into falls you need to go to Iguasso Falls,Brazil. They make Niagara look tiny.

Yes! took the litttle boat ride up the river to the bottom of the falls, got completely drenched. It was a lot of fun!

lucky you. i visited there with my girlfriend and had a ball. not sure about all those side show time things though, but that's part of your culture i suppose.
why don't they include a ride over the falls?

I live 45 Min's away. We go there every year, and always take a picture of ourselves. It's great to see yourself change, even though the scenery doesn't.
