Has anyone ever received a check in the mail with a letter saying that you have won the British International?

I did and I did not6 cash the check nor did I call the number to give them my information. I think it was a scam to get my identity or something worse.

This is different from most scams. You recieved an actual check?

Do NOT under any circumstances give out your information to the sender.

I assume that they told you that you need to call your info in in order to cash the check... if so the check will most likely bounce, so depositing it will not work... (if you were going to try depositing it, you should set up a new account, preferable at a bank different than your normal one) and just deposit the check there. You may be able to have the bank verify the check i.e. call the British bank and verify that the amount and account are valid...

I just LUUURVE the non-ingenious ways people try to sucker you out of parting with your hard earned cash! I personally like to answer e-mail scams and the like with.." WOW! this really is my lucky day, I won 2 million pounds a couple of days ago, 4 million last week, and now you tell me I have inherited 1.6 million due to a long lost family member having unfortunately lost his life in a nasty car-crash in Nigeria, I just cannot count my blessings quick enough, still, with all this luck I had better pass some of it around, I now have far too much to handle, keep it my freind and my best wishes to you"
