north American tribes were more agricultural and used stuff for practicality than for what it looked like. that's why Jamestown settlement almost failed at first they wanted gold like the Spanish settlements in the south but the northern Indians didn't know of it or just didn't care. but some of the south western indians used silver and some copper it was extreamly abundant there, and they used it in small quantitys till the spanish came to Santa Fe in the early 1600s and then they used it more. and the same with north eastern american indians they used it when they began to trade with the british and the french. the indians almost became dependent on the french for thier booze sugar and other products but they began hunting smelting and farming for the french.
