First, bend the coat hangar so that it's straight. Cut off any large bulges. Take the very end of the coat hangar, and try to ease it through where the window meets the seal around it. Push as much length as you can inside the car. Once enough length is inside, slide it up and down or side to side, to reach the electronic switch (if equipped) - I've found it is MUCH easier to push an electric button versus actually moving a knob. You may need to make a bend in the hangar to get it into the right position to do this.

RE:
Keys locked inside car, help please!?
Hi everyone,
I've locked my keys in my car and I'm not sure what to do to get them out. I've got a coathanger and I also have some of that box strapping that everybody else uses to break into their cars but I'm not sure what I should be doing with it exactly.
Can anyone...

There are different techniques depending on the type of car you have. You need to be a bit more specific.
Make year model etc...
I lock my keys in my cars often and one I can only break in through the front door and the other through the back.
One with a piece of spring steel wire and the other with a sharp flat screwdriver.

I agree with the first poster, call a locksmith. This will save you breaking something inside your door. The charge is about $40 to $60 depending on where you live.

Is it a new car? Do you have OnStar? They will unlock your car for you.
If it's a new car and you don't have OnStar, the locks may be too tricky for the old coat hanger trick. You will have to call a locksmith to come out and help you. The cops no longer help.
If it's an older car, then you may have success. Make a loop on the end of the hanger. Insert the hanger through the rubber and down the inside of the window. Loop the hanger loop around the push button and pull up. You may have to tear the rubber molding a bit.

A thin metal strip is better. But i'm not going to tell you because what kind of idiot is going to advertise how to break into cars.
Go up the council estate and ask any 14 year old.

Tow truck or police officer - both have the tools to get unlocked. Charge about 20-40 bucks.

Find the largest rock around your vehicle. Throw the rock into your window. Or you can just call a locksmith. I would use a locksmith instead of the rock idea. But, if you have a baby or small child inside, I would use the rock, right away.
