Magic Crystals is the best, but it is too expensive for kitty litter. So, I usually buy Tidy Cats, and empty and wash out the box every three days. If you take it outside and wash it out with a rag and some spray clorox it will not stink up your house. Whatever you do, don't get upset with your cat for stinky litter, they cannot help it.

I find that Feline Pine is the best!! I have 3 cats and they all use the same litter box. Sifting is a must; if done frequently, I only need to change the litter every third day--if I put new litter out on Monday, then I change again on Thursday. Unless of course, there has been extra usage.
Plastic is absorbant so, every other month I soak the litter box w/ Tide and Chlorox and scrub it good.
I find that there is hardly any tracking of the litter around the house as there is w/ the clay litters. And clay can be dangerous for the cats. When they wash the clay bits are swallowed and can cause severe gastrointestinal problems.
I'm lucky enuf to have 2 bathrooms. The smallest one has become the "kitty bathroom". It has no shower, just a tub. I cover the drain really well and sit the litter box in the tub. Store the litter and other cat necessities under the sink. Have a shower curtain up and close it when I have company. The box is out of sight!!
Walmart has the best price for the Feline Pine--it is less than $3.00 for a bag, whereas it is almost $5 in the supermarkets.
Good luck!!!

I do use a clumping litter and our litter box has a lid over it. I scoop it out about twice a week and use a litter box deodorizer. But the best thing I ever did, was start using Science Diet cat food. Because of the high quality...the urine and the feces have MUCH less smell...because the body uses most of what is in the food and excretes less. I have noticed a HUGE diference in the smell of the feces. I can actually go a full week and forget to scoop the box because I don't smell it anymore. Before I went to Premium/Quality cat food....some times the box would just smell horrible. I have two litter boxes in my living room, but I now have people comment that there is no smell and they wouldn't have known I had cats. That blesses me. I love my pets, but will not have my home smelling like them. Science Diet can get expensive, but PetSmart has there own premium brand (Authority) that is half the price. I just started using it...we will see if its worth the price cut...if not...i will go back to Science Diet.

I have 3 cats so the litter box is a big issue. We invested in the Littermaid, and it works great. Every couple of days we empty the container and add some more litter. It only smells if we let it get too full. We usually use Tidy Cat scoopable, or Scoop away. Both have pleasant scents.

We use Arm and Hammer Super Scoop, It works really well on keeping the odor down. It is my teenage daughters job to clean the litter box in our house and she doesn't always clean it as often as I prefer, but this is the best litter that I have found to keep the smell at bay until she does! You really should clean it out every day, but with this litter you could push it to every 2 or 3 days. (if you only have one cat as we do!)

we've used some distinctive manufacturers over the final year and a nil.5, and that i, in comparison to 3, did no longer like Arm & Hammer. It did no longer clump ok and ended up leaving something of the muddle interior the field somewhat "muddy". so far, we like Tidy Cats Small areas (retains the scent down particularly properly). whilst we observed yet another cat final month, my husband wanted to purpose the Tidy Cats Crystals....those paintings, too. you need to use them on my own or blend them in with different muddle. the day previous, i offered the Tidy Cats Crystals combination. It claims that's a clean formulation with "no fall down action". The crumbling is what drives me nuts.....we will see if this works the way it claims it is going to. All in all, i might propose Tidy Cats. we've had good luck with the kind. different preparation on the thank you to maintain it from smelling; scoop it each 24-40 8 hours, and alter the muddle thoroughly each a million-2 weeks. we've 2 coated boxes for our cats, and that i like the shown fact that charcoal filters could be placed in slots interior the hoods now. It does help somewhat. you additionally can purchase littercarb....i've got no longer attempted it yet, despite if it might probable help.

It's a bit more expensive, but I prefer the clumping varieties of litter. I think they are easier to "scoop" away, and the clumping action rids the box of the strong ammonia smell from feline urine.

They are mostly all the same. You have to clean out the litter box daily.

I use the cheapest brand and use the arm and hammer cat litter stuff on the bottom. It works wonders! It's the best. If you just put the arm & hammer stuff on the bottom then just scoop it will work.
