keyboard is all wrong! press 'alt gr' key and any of the number keys and nothing happens...tried shft and every key, eventually got the @ sign on a completely different key..do I need to do something to make all the key print what's on it...otherwise going to have to take flying guesses everytime I want a special symbol! help...this is so irritating!

The keyboard is from Spain but probably your keyboard language is English (as far a windows is concern) and that's why what you see is not what it appears on screen when you type.
Go to Control Panel and then to Regional and Language Properties (or something like that, I have windows in Spanish so I'm translating), the second tab should be languages, click on details and change it to Spanish (Spain), (you may need to press add to get it) and press OK. That will make your keyboard type what you see,

Try Shift + 2.

Yeah it's not shift, it's the 'Alt Gr' key, because it's next to the 2, not above it.

If it's not on the number 2 with shift held on, try the " with shift held on.
